Looking Inward: Values

As I ponder the growth I want to see in myself, my world, and in my connections with the people in my life, I cannot escape my subconscious mind's suggestion that my interactions with the world and associations are based on the values that I hold to be true.  My personal values of Attentiveness, Dependability, Fidelity, Education, Harmony, Judiciousness, and Organization are like a focusing lens for the life I live.

This is true for the majority of us.  We live life based on the values we hold.  Maybe these values came from childhood and part of the home we grew up in, maybe we witnessed them displayed by a leader we respected and began to weave them into our own lives, or perhaps we did an intersubjective assessment of ourselves and found values that direct us to our desires which we anchored into our life.   Whatever the route values developed in our lives, I am confident the majority of humans are value-driven.

It is important to ensure that our personal values are also aligned with our beliefs.

Why do we want to align our values with our beliefs?  Quite simply, because when our values and beliefs are aligned we can take quicker and more sequenced steps toward actions that are true to our nature.

STOP READING IF YOU DON"T WANT TO WORK ON YOURSELF AND CREATE A MORE ALIGNED YOU!

Good, you understand it is important to understand your values and beliefs and work toward aligning them.

On a simple sheet of paper, write 20 values, (Value lists can be found online)  and narrow that list down to 6.

Yes, do it now before you go to the news or youtube.

On another sheet, write down sheet your core beliefs.  Maybe ask your significant other what the two of you truly believe in, or ponder this one for a bit, but once you have written your beliefs down, compare them with your values, you will find yourself in an empowered position.

Were your values and beliefs aligned?

If not what beliefs can you change to match your values, or what new values can you ground your beliefs in?

I hope you have a prosperous day.
